Tomb Raider Underworld Review

Tomb Raider Underworld Review

Perhaps the coolest of the cool adventure girls is back with a host of new tweaks that make Lara Croft far more realistic than her predecessors. With far more controlled athletic abilities Tomb Raider Underworld will not disappoint fans with the introduction of movement control instigated by motion capture technology.

The unstoppable Lara Croft is immersed in his new adventure, and achieves one of the most notable of the saga in recent years. Underworld bet on the same formula that has made the series successful, but brings more freedom and, above all, more style.

Stagnating in a playable concept is a scourge for any saga the fact that you want certain continuity with critical and commercial success can be the ruin of a saga. Tomb Raider was, against all odds, one of the most important franchises in the history of video games. Although its success was due more to the curves of its protagonist and any alliance with the film, the games virtues are as pure interactive entertainment.

The truth is that Lara Croft took has been dead for years, with poor attempts such as Angel of Darkness. So aware of the need to radically change the dynamic of the franchise, it was decided to go with Core Design by Crystal Dynamics which has produced extraordinary results.

The result is very powerful, and maintains the standards of quality for the last two products. An intriguing story, game play is more successful than ever, and a style that is less athletic are the main demands.

Tomb Raider Underworld opens with a disturbing prologue of flames with the mansion that serves mainly to familiarise players with the controls and to introduce an element of intrigue that we do not appreciate until later in the game.

From ancient ruins in more urban settings to see Lara Croft travel half the world, and also change the clothing in abundance including sleek swimwear. This is only the beginning, a typical introduction, and quickly turns to the fantastic first level where Lara Croft is starting to show her true concerns that drive this new adventure.

The screenplay is not too well finished, and appears to suffer from some serious problems in linking to other locations. The voluptuous archaeologist returns to live an odyssey about her family, and again tries to solve the mysteries surrounding the figures of her father and mother.

The first step is the search will be Avalon, where there are presumed buried, the remains of King Arthur. Thus begins the real Underworld, and does so with what is high adventure, with the virtue of making you feel immersed in every locality and every adventure in which we embark.

Without wishing to reveal major spoilers of the story, only disclose that the first chapter begins with Lara on a yacht in the Mediterranean area in the middle of nowhere, and with a team of scuba divers in the sea to explore the ruins.

With this first level Lara exhibits a sexy black swimsuit, and we began to realize the new direction of the video game. Freedom is more present than ever, and we are no longer restricted to areas where there is only a single track.

The imaginative traps and puzzles are one of the most brilliant concepts of Underworld. So this chapter presents a multitude of possibilities, we can go on a small boat or swim whenever you like, explore the underwater ruins in search of collectible items, hunting sharks or focus on the mission and eradicate it as soon as possible.

As usual we visit locations abundant in the purest style of adventure; the Mediterranean is only the beginning, since we will also travel to Mexico, Thailand and other locations.

The component of the adventure is again the right cocktail of platforms, action and puzzles that so successfully developed as Legend, and again is conveniently seasoned with other elements such as giant supernatural enemies, or the familiar racing along on a motorcycle.

Tomb Raider Underworld seems like all deliveries of the series developed by Crystal Dynamics, created to streamline the world in your mind. Users who do not wish to become mired in shootouts may avoid them.

There will be, in fact, different types of elements to our arsenal, and the classic dual pistols Lara will also be accompanied by other less traditional and non-automatic weapons, and also by more atypical implements such as the spear gun.

Dive, jump, shoot, tip kicking, motorcycle driving at full speed, Lara Croft does all that without loss of flow or flair. For the purists who want to aim manually at our enemies, simply click on the right lever to access the manual system. The weapons, however, not only to kill opponents, but they also can be used to break down barriers, or operating machinery, for example, breaking chains to release bridges.

The boys from Crystal Dynamics know that not everyone has as much patience, and offer to those in need of more direct action, the ability to quickly check how to solve problems using the buttons for help. This is accessed from the menu with the bottom button if you just want a hint, or higher if we want is full resolution of the situation. It's a nice option to be given to the user to choose for himself the level of the challenge facing the new Tomb Raider.
